HISTORY

First settled in 1670, “Westport” was chosen as the name because of the town’s geographic location. Being the most western port in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, many original settlers built their lives around the Westport River. Like many of the cities surrounding it, Westport grew its own industries, hosting several farms and mills.

Today, Westport represents a classic New England town. With it’s “small town” feel, locals are prideful in their community and small businesses.
